Men in Sheds have undertaken to build a covered shelter for the Tewkesbury Road Community Garden.
Initial work has now started with clearing the site ready, taking delivery of the timber and construction of the first half of the base is under way.
Roof supports and flooring underway.
Flooring completed with ramp access. Uprights and roof supports braced and roofing now on. Water butt stand and water butt ready to receive rainwater.
Well done to all involved!
With the insulation and OSB delivered, the roof and floor of the cabin have now been finished and the wood treated against the weather.
Once again we were fortunate with fine weather. Main tasks for the day were to get the roof boards on, door and window furniture fixed and hope the insulation for floor & roof would arrive (but unfortunately delayed).
We will complete the roof and flooring at a mutually agreeable time, once the insulation and OSB sheeting is available from the supplier.
Bettridge School asked Men in Sheds whether they would be willing to construct a cabin for them and we agreed. The cabin will be used as a Food Bank and second hand school uniform shop. The build was scheduled for the half term break which worked well to minimise disruption for the school and enable us ready access to the site and storage facilities for equipment.
First day of the Bettridge School cabin build by a team from the Cheltenham Unit 2 Shed. We were fortunate to have fine sunny weather.
Fine weather allowed us to leave the roof uncovered and ready for Day 2
The PATA ramp is progressing but recent conditions have not helped, with more digging out than originally anticipated.

Originally the project involved placing a roof on an existing performance stage, however it quickly became clear that the existing structure was rotten and unsafe. Our team then completed a design and build of a new stage complete with roof and seating on sides and along the back.
The design catered for the new structure being built on a archaeological site, this prevented us digging holes for the support posts. This was overcome by using adjustable plastic support pads that held the posts and also provided a way to level the structure while holding all the timber off the ground greatly reducing the risk of water damage. The structure was finished off with a clear preservative to give a natural timber look.
